The basic description of a virtual world

Virtual worlds, also know as 'metaverses' encompass a true 3D physics environment. Unlike conventional web pages, which provide little more than a static experience, a virtual world provides a truly interactive one. Instead of reading about a product, story, or place, you're immersed in the very essence of it, complete with the sights, sounds, and many small nuances you'd experience in real life.

From an architectural perspective, the sky is the absolute limit, and then some… Inside our virtual world, you'll find complete recreations of cities, such as Paris, London, Amsterdam, to exotic locations in the Caribbean. You also observe a social structure, economy, and a place many people consider home, (in an amazingly real sort of way).

There are shopping malls, cafés, car dealerships, amusement parks, real-estate companies, and a diverse offering of upscale nightlife. The complex social structure encompasses business transactions, collaborative concept development, friendships, romance, and (if you can believe it), virtual marriages, that in some cases, blur the line between a real and virtual existence.

The amount of time spent in a virtual world environment can be anywhere from a few hours a day, to as much as 100 hours a week for those that have become so engrossed in their virtual existence, it's now parallel to their real one.

Many experts, analysts, and corporations, such as Sony and Google (Soon to roll out virtual worlds), see this as the next generation Internet; an Internet where users will in essence, climb into their computers to shop, socialize, conduct business, or just lose themselves in a highly enchanting social experience.
