The
basic description of a virtual world
Virtual
worlds, also know as 'metaverses' encompass a true 3D physics
environment. Unlike conventional web pages, which provide
little more than a static experience, a virtual world provides
a truly interactive one. Instead of reading about a product,
story, or place, you're immersed in the very essence of
it, complete with the sights, sounds, and many small nuances
you'd experience in real life.
From an architectural perspective, the sky is the absolute
limit, and then some
Inside our virtual world, you'll
find complete recreations of cities, such as Paris, London,
Amsterdam, to exotic locations in the Caribbean. You also
observe a social structure, economy, and a place many people
consider home, (in an amazingly real sort of way).
There
are shopping malls, cafés, car dealerships, amusement
parks, real-estate companies, and a diverse offering of
upscale nightlife. The complex social structure encompasses
business transactions, collaborative concept development,
friendships, romance, and (if you can believe it), virtual
marriages, that in some cases, blur the line between a real
and virtual existence.
The
amount of time spent in a virtual world environment can
be anywhere from a few hours a day, to as much as 100 hours
a week for those that have become so engrossed in their
virtual existence, it's now parallel to their real one.
Many
experts, analysts, and corporations, such as Sony and Google
(Soon to roll out virtual worlds), see this as the next
generation Internet; an Internet where users will in essence,
climb into their computers to shop, socialize, conduct business,
or just lose themselves in a highly enchanting social experience.
